Full Day Maya Adventure:

Travel south to the Toledo District and experience everything, as the ancient Maya people would have. Walk in the footsteps of the ancient Mayas and visit one of two ruins: Lubaantun or Nim Li Punit. In the afternoon, choose one of two activities: Eladio’s Chocolate Farm Tour or Blue Creek Cave. We need a minimum of 4 participants to run this tour.

$145 USD/ person

(includes all tours, national park entrance fees for ruins, transportation, and a packed lunch)

Lubaantun or “Place of Fallen Stones,” has many unique properties compared to the other Maya ruins in the area. Constructed of primarily black slate and strategically positioned between two rivers, these structures are thought to have had military significance. Lubaantun is also the supposed discovery place of the infamous crystal skull, although this discovery has never been verified.

OR

Nim Li Punit or “Big Hat,” is known for its many stelae, or carved stone monuments. The name itself comes from a stela that depicts a king wearing a massive headdress. Many of the carvings appear to be unfinished, suggesting a sudden and mysterious halt in the artist’s work. This site features several step pyramids, a ball court, and ominous tombs.

Eladio’s Chocolate Farm Tour

Learn about the making of chocolate from it’s source- the cacao bean farm. Eladio will tell you about his sustainable farming practices and the cacao farming industry. This tour is a joy for all your senses! You will touch, smell, and yes- TASTE- the entire chocolate experience- just as the Mayas did.

OR

Blue Creek Cave

Known in the local Maya dilect as “Hokeb Ha” (“Where the Water Enters the Earth”), the Blue Creek Cave is a great experience for adventurers of all ages. After a short hike, take a dip in the rushing waters leaving the Blue Creek Cave. There is a calmer pool of water at the entrance where you can swim. Our guides will then take you into the cave to explore and learn about the various cave formations.
